Welcome to the 2017 Hamilton Competitions



In July 2017, our 75th festival will host the following art forms: dance, piano, vocal, speech & drama, strings & orchestral instruments and special needs.



Performers will come from a range of communities throughout the upper North Island and from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. They will range in age from little pre-schoolers to adults completing tertiary study and vying for the big prizes in the Vocal and Piano competitions. The main prize money from the Norah Howell Awards will be used to fund further study and launch performance careers. You can enjoy the Norah Howell Awards at the University of Waikato, Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts during the festival.

Dance



The Dance discipline will be held from the 14th July to the 17th July 2017 at St Peter's School, Cambridge. Your convenor is Katy Cockerton.

Pianoforte



The Pianoforte discipline will be held on the 14th and 15th of July 2017 at the Lady Goodfellow Chapel, Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts, University of Waikato. Your convenor is Cindy Xia.​

Vocal



The Vocal disciplines will be held from the 16th to the 18th of July 2017.


Adult Vocal and Norah Howell Award will be held at the Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts, University of Waikato.


The Junior Vocal is held at the Riverlea Theatre, Hamilton. Your convenors are Coryn Knapper and Mary Jones. ​​

Speech & Drama



The Speech & Drama discipline will be held on the 8th and 9th of July 2017 at Waikato Diocesan School, Hamilton. Your convenor is Jenni Nelson.
